HKAS Accreditation of Chemical Testing for Construction Materials

To further expand our service to the industry, our Laboratory applied for extension of scope of accreditation for chemical tests under the Test Category of Construction Materials. Assessment by HKAS assessors was conducted in May and notification for the accredited tests was granted on 3 September 2019. With the new extension for the tests, MINSEN can now conduct complete set of tests with HOKLAS endorsed reports issued for stell and reinforcing bars to the contractors and the construction industry.
Reassessment and Extension of Scope of Accreditation

The notification letter for confirmation of reasessment and extension of scope of accreditation for cover more tests for the Test Category of Construction Materials was granted by HKAS on 22 May 2019. The testing service of the Laboratory has now extended to cover a variety of physical tests for concrete; metallic materials including steel and reinforcing bars, wire rod, wire, welded fabric, cold reduced wire; and also the full set of stage 1 tests for soil including both laboratory and site tests.
Appointment of Technical Director

To strengthen the management and further expand our testing service, a new Technical Director, Mr YIM Yau Wai joined our Laboratory in April 2019. Mr YIM is a Chartered Engineer in Engineering Council, UK and a Corporate Member of Hong Kong Institution of Engineers, CEng, MHKIE. He has an extensive experience in the testing and calibration industry for more than 38 years and will lead our testing and calibration team.
